Oxidative behavior and high temperature tribological properties of (Ti 0.8 Mo 0.1 V 0.1 ) 3 AlC 2 solid solutions

【文章摘要】 M-site multi-component solid solution strengthening is common method to improve properties of MAX phase ceramics. Based on this, (Ti (0.8) Mo- 0.1 V (0.1) ) (3) AlC 2 MAX phase ceramics were prepared by hot pressing sintering method in this paper. Mechanical properties and tribological behavior of (Ti (0.8) Mo (0.1) V (0.1) ) (3) AlC (2) after sliding against Al(2)O(3)at RT and 800 C-degrees were investigated and related wear mechanism was also analyzed. Oxidation behaviour of (Ti (0.8) Mo- 0.1 V (0.1) ) 3 AlC 2 ceramics oxidized for 2 h in air atmosphere at 800 C-degrees , 900 (degrees) C and 1000 (degrees) C was also investigated. Results showed that Vickers hardness and flexural strength were improved by about 19.6 % and 12.3 % compared to Ti3AlC2. At RT, (Ti (0.8) Mo (0.1) V (0.1) ) (3) AlC (2 )mainly showed abrasive wear. At 800 degrees C, dense oxide film was generated on worn surface of the samples, and main wear mechanisms were oxidative wear and plastic deformation. With increase in oxidation temperature, thickness of oxide layer increased, and outermost elements of oxide layer were more abundant. |
